About Speedwell Mudguards
Speedwell Gearcase, as it was known, was founded in 1897 and went public in 1937, employing up to 400 people at a time in its height, with factories in Birmingham, the Black Country and Coventry, producing bicycles, gearboxes, chain guards and mudguards.
Since 1978 Speedwell has been under the ownership of Chris and Val Williams of Autocycle Engineering, as they near retirement, Andrew Gregory of Tri-Cor have taken the reigns and endeavour to guide Speedwell to new heights supplying the British motorcycle industry with OE products made on the original tooling and machines, operated by staff who, combined, have been working for Speedwell over 50 years. there isn’t much they don’t know about manufacturing mudguards!
